Product description
Small, handy sharpening steel with a ring for attachment, ideal for on the go, camping, hunting or even for the kitchen.
A honing steel is not for sharpening, but rather for straightening the knife edge. When using a freshly sharpened knife, microscopic irregularities or burrs can form during use. A honing steel straightens these out again – without removing any material. Therefore, a dull knife cannot be sharpened with a honing steel. For this purpose, you need sharpening tools such as a knife sharpener, honing rod, or whetstone. It is recommended to use a honing steel before each use of the knife. This keeps the edge straight and helps it stay sharp longer – meaning you need to sharpen less often. It contributes to efficient edge maintenance without the effort and time of a sharpening process. A honing steel is really only advantageous if you use your knife very frequently . As soon as the edge has become noticeably dull and a honing steel is no longer sufficient, you should use a knife sharpener , honing rod , or whetstone to restore the original edge. Comes with a leather sheath.
