Due to high demand, the delivery time for some models – especially for PUMA items that we manufacture in Solingen – is particularly long. We can only release items in the webshop once dealer or pre-orders have been completed.

Items marked with "The item is sold out and will no longer be produced in the future!" will no longer be offered.

In some cases, only a small number of items are released. Due to high demand, multiple people receive the notification, and the available quantity can quickly sell out.

If your PUMA knife has a 5-digit number stamped on it, you can determine the year of manufacture from it.

• Fixed-blade knives: Stamped on the guard
• Folding knives: Stamped on the side of the lock spring

The second-to-last and third-to-last digits are used for the year of manufacture. These two digits are reversed and form the two-digit year, always preceded by "19" (older coding system).

Example:
Number: 12345
Third-to-last digit = 3, second-to-last digit = 4 → reversed = 43 → Year = 1943

Note: The codes have been changed in recent times.

For a 3-digit etched number, the marking indicates the quarter and year:

• 1st digit = Quarter of manufacture (1–4)
• Last two digits = Year of manufacture

Example: 105 RC = 1st Quarter 2005

For a 2-digit etched number, only the year of manufacture is given.

Example: 07 RC = 2007

RC means the knife has been tested for Rockwell hardness.

With fixed-blade knives, the blade cannot be replaced, as this would be tantamount to a new manufacture. Broken tips or nicks can often be repaired by regrinding.

With many folding knives, parts (e.g., blade, saw, corkscrew) can be replaced. Multi-part hunting pocket knives (e.g., 943/945) are generally only repairable if they were manufactured after 1990 (changed blades/springs).

A refurbishment (cleaning, grinding, honing) is generally possible.

This is the so-called "Rockwell point". In the Rockwell C test, a diamond tip is pressed into the blade under a defined load; the hardness is determined from the indentation depth.
