Product description
PUMA TEC My Knife – Your very first knife.
Our new PUMA TEC knife wasn’t designed for our regular customers who are looking for a knife for hunting or other outdoor adventures. It’s a fixed-blade knife developed specifically for children and teens between the ages of 9 and 14. The PUMA TEC My Knife combines solid craftsmanship and safe handling with a one-of-a-kind concept: The handle truly belongs to the child.
The handle scales are made of clear acrylic and are secured on each side with two screws. They can be easily unscrewed. Between the handle scales and the blade is a replaceable image that customizes the look of the handle. Once a new favorite image is found, the screws are tightened again—and the knife looks completely new.
The package includes several pre-printed designs, such as horses, a puma (of course), a jaguar, a tropical fish, and trucks. For those who’d rather create their own design, matching stencils are included. This allows children to draw, cut out, and insert their own motif—creativity included. This makes the PUMA TEC an expression of personal taste.
It has a blunt, rounded tip that minimizes the risk of injury. The knife comes with a high-quality black leather sheath with a snap closure, which keeps it safe and stylish—just like many other PUMA knives.
The PUMA TEC My Knife is more than just a tool. It’s a companion that grows with the child, evolves, and becomes truly personal.
Included in the package: knife, black leather sheath, interchangeable designs, and white painting stencils
Information for Parents/Adults: Safety from the Start
Proper knife handling is a skill that must be learned. There are a few basic rules that children should internalize from the very beginning.
Always hold the knife by the handle—firmly, but without tensing up. When cutting, the free hand forms what’s called a “claw hand”: the fingertips are curled inward, the knuckles point upward, and this reliably protects the fingers from the blade. Always cut away from your body; never toward your own hand or body.
These three basic rules—proper grip, claw hand, and cutting direction—form the foundation for safe and confident knife handling.
Children’s knives should also be stored in a safe place out of children’s reach. Regardless of the child’s age or their proficiency with knives, adult supervision and guidance remain essential. Do not leave the child alone with the knife, and provide tips and guidance as needed.
We recommend an age range of 9–14 years, though this also depends on the child’s individual development.
