Frequently Asked Questions
Why did I not receive confirmation of my order?
If you have ordered products online from us and have not received an order confirmation, please contact us immediately at info@pumaknives.de
When was my Puma knife made?
- Is there a 5-digit number stamped on your Puma knife? It is on the finger guard on Puma fixed blade knives. On Puma folding knives it is located on the pushing spring. Found it? Then enter the 5-digit number in the field below.
- Is there a 3-digit number engraved on your Puma knife? e.g. 105 RC, then you enter the 3-digit number "105" in the field below.
- Is there a 2-digit number engraved on your Puma knife? e.g. 11 RC, then you enter the 2-digit number "11" in the field below.
- RC = Rockwell C, it means that the knife was tested for its Rockwell hardness.
Please enter the number of your knife.
Can my Puma knife still be repaired?
We cannot exchange the blade of fixed blade Puma knives, because this would be equivalent to making a new knife. If the top of the blade has broken off or the blade shows gaps, the knife can be resharpened.
On most models of Puma folding knives the individual parts (blade, saw, corkscrew...) can be replaced.
Multi-part Puma hunting pocket-knives like the 943 and 945 can only be repaired if they were manufactured after 1990. The design of blades and springs was altered at that time. Unfortunately, the new parts don't fit in the old knives any more. Remaining stocks of the old blades and springs are not available either.
Of course refurbishing of the knife (cleaning, resharpening) is always possible.
Where and how do I send my Puma knife for repair?
Please be sure to pack your Puma knife well and send to:
Puma GmbH IP Solingen
An den Eichen 20-22
42699 Solingen
Germany
Enclose a letter with your address and a description of your complaint or your wish. If the repairs are being made under the guarantee, you will receive the knife back automatically after the repair. In the case of repairs which are subject to payment, first you receive a cost estimate of the repairs, after receipt of payment the repair is carried out and your Puma knife is sent back.
Please understand that we do not accept any freight collect shipments.
Why is there a tiny dot on the blade of my Puma knife?
This is so-called "Rockwell dot". All Puma knives are tested for their Rockwell hardness according to the system Rockwell C . In the test a diamond tip is pressed into the blade under a specified load and the penetration depth is measured. The stated value determines the hardness of the steel.
Is this true, that Puma knives have a lifelong guarantee?
In Germany it is not legal to give a lifelong guarantee. Please see the "Warranty".
Can I get spare parts for my Puma knife?
We don't sell any spare parts like blades, springs or scales which are basic components of a knife. Under the guarantee every Puma knife must be repaired in our company. Exceptions are screws for Puma knives with screwed metal handles, and inlays which are stuck in the scales. You can also purchase substitute sheaths if they are available for your Puma knife.
