What is POM Commando Stag?
Commando Stag is PUMA's synthetic stag antler handle made of POM/Delrin plastic – developed in the USA, tested under extreme conditions and now used on many PUMA SGB hunting knives. It looks like real antler, but is more durable, hygienic and dishwasher-safe.

The Story Behind Commando Stag
Rising Prices, Growing Concerns
The prices for real antler rose considerably, making knives with stag antler handles significantly more expensive. At the same time, concerns grew that increasing demand could encourage poaching and black market trade. PUMA sought a responsible alternative.
An elk antler changes everything
A man from Colorado owned an extraordinary elk antler – for years a place of honor in his "man cave". This piece inspired Bob Carpenter, the owner of PUMA's American branch, to develop a precise replica: a perfect symbiosis of nature and modern technology.
POM/Delrin becomes Commando Stag
In close cooperation with partners in the USA, a specially developed POM/Delrin material was created. After many tests and refinements, it combined the natural appearance and texture of stag antler with the advantages of a modern high-performance plastic.
Licensed, Tested, Proven
Commando Stag is now used on many PUMA SGB hunting knives – in classic models like Skinner and Bowie as well as newer variants like Elk, Coyote and Blacktail. PUMA is proud to have created a licensed, affordable and durable alternative.
